Appearance: Dr. Tam stands a little above average height, about 5'7”, and has the lean, toned build of someone who keeps herself religiously in shape. Her hair is dark brown, nearly black, and wavy, and is almost always carefully combed, though she tends to run her hands through it when distracted and frustrated. Her eyes are blue-gray and watchful, revealing careful attention to the world around her. She is fair-skinned, and has only become more so during her time spend off-world. She has the posture and bearing of one trained to be conscious of her dignity, though her manner of dress has slowly been swayed away from immaculate and fussy toward comfortable and sturdy over long exposure to Serenity's crew (or, perhaps, to the disasters they tend to find themselves embroiled in).

Personality: Simone is extremely driven, able to focus on a goal and work toward it relentlessly. She is also extremely stubborn once she is certain of a thing, and will not back down from her convictions despite the hardships she might endure. She is calm under pressure, and when she is in her element, she is extremely confident. She is not easily intimidated, and will hold her ground against threats. She is capable of bone-deep devotion, something most readily shown toward her sister, for whom she would do or sacrifice anything.

Her breeding and raising shows clear in her behavior. She defaults to extreme reserve, often coming off as cold, aloof and prissy, and is very conscious of propriety. This is both social conditioning and a defense mechanism, and this outward wall of reserve is all the stronger in situations she finds unfamiliar or uncomfortable. She does let her guard down around those with whom she is comfortable (though she still maintains a certain careful sense of propriety), and beneath the reserve she is a clever, good-hearted person with a definite, if somewhat dry, sense of humor.

While not prone to conscious snobbery, she was raised amongst the elite, and does occasionally have a difficult time understanding those who have lived differently, and equal difficulty interfacing with them. This does occasionally lead to her jamming her foot firmly in her mouth, though it most commonly results in a mutual disconnect. It doesn't help that the rules of interaction are very rarely the ones she was raised with.

Though reserved and perhaps somewhat socially inept, she is generally a decent person. She has a definite sense of right and wrong, and is deeply compassionate. She takes her vows as a physician seriously, and anyone she treats can be certain of their safety while under her care; she will tend them to the best of her ability regardless of her personal feelings. While she will defend herself and those she cares for, she does not as a general rule like violence.

Notable Possessions: Her doctor's bag, containing tools such as a scalpel, sutures and needles, forceps, bandages, medical tape, minor diagnostic equipment (stethoscope, thermometer, etc.), blood pressure cuff, antiseptic, syringes and hypodermic needles and a small store of commonly needed medications such as antibiotics, analgesics and epinephrine.
